Editorial Policy
Trend data changes automatically. Content changes only when a human decides the underlying information meaningfully changed.
What is automatic and what is not
Automation handles the repetitive work: collecting the trend feed, recording a snapshot every fifteen minutes, grouping search variants onto a single topic, tracking how a ranking moves, and flagging topics that have stopped trending. No automated process writes, edits, or publishes an article.
Every published word is written or substantially rewritten by a person, and every published page has been reviewed by a person before it went live.
How a topic gets covered
An editor reviews the queue of new and re-emerging trends and chooses which are worth explaining. The queue is ordered by an internal score that weighs how fast a topic is rising, how recently it appeared, how prominent it is, how many independent outlets are covering it, whether we already have content for it, and how long it has held its position.
That score is a Trendoops internal metric. It is not a Google figure and it is not a search volume. It exists to order one person review queue.
Source hierarchy
Claims are checked against the most authoritative source available, in this order of preference:
- Government bodies, regulators, courts, and official records
- Universities, research bodies, and published studies
- Official announcements from companies, leagues, and organisations
- Established journalism
- Secondary sources, used only to locate something better
Before publication
Every article passes a twelve-point review before it can be published. The editor confirms that sources resolve and support the claims, that dates and names are correct, that numbers match the cited source, that the headline is accurate, that nothing is asserted without support, that no text was copied from another publication, that any images are properly licensed, that internal links exist, that the search metadata is complete, and that the page works on mobile and with a screen reader.
An article cannot be published with any item outstanding. The system enforces this: the publish action refuses to run until the checklist is complete and at least one verified source is attached.
When an article is updated
An article is not updated because a ranking moved, because a traffic figure changed, or because time has passed. We do not adjust dates to make a page look fresher than it is.
An article is updated when the underlying information changes: a fact is corrected, a major new development occurs, a schedule changes, an important statistic is revised, a reliable new source appears, or the wording turns out to have been misleading.
Corrections
Every published page links to our corrections page. If you find a factual error, a broken source, an outdated figure, an incorrect date, or wording that misleads, tell us and an editor will investigate. Confirmed corrections are recorded with what was wrong, what is right, when it was fixed, and who fixed it.
Originality
We write our own content. We do not copy or lightly paraphrase other publishers, and we do not run a volume content farm. Where we summarise a claim made elsewhere, we link to the original and say so.
